Changes to Equinox Weather
Good evening, we are excited for the changes to come with Equinox Weather. As you know, beginning tomorrow, we will add in coverage for Western Washington and we are excited to be covering that area again, this time permanently. We are also now officially unveiling our new logo and it is below…
We are also unveiling three new graphics for our “Weather Alert Days”, and we will explain each of them and when these alert days will be posted… The first “Weather Alert Day” is for severe weather, we will post this alert day anytime a widespread threat of severe weather is expected (enhanced risk or higher), or there is a severe weather day, in which tornadoes are possible (higher than a 3 on the Severe Threat Index).
The next “Weather Alert Day” is for winter weather, and this will be posted when there’s a Winter Storm Warning, any type of freezing rain or ice advisories, and Blizzard Warnings.
The final “Weather Alert Day” will likely be used little, but it is for when landfall tropical systems will affect the United States, we will post this Alert Day to cover the weather for that area until the threat from the tropical system ends.
We will also be adding a new forecast product mainly for Western Washington, but it may also be used for Indiana weather from time to time and it is the Travel Risk Forecast, it will mainly be used for the mountain passes, especially during the late fall through the early spring when conditions at the passes are normally treacherous. An example of this product is below…
Finally, if you have not heard yet, we will be moving our operations from Indiana west to Washington State. The only thing that will change is the address. Indiana weather forecast coverage will continue like before. There will be five or six days in early October where there won’t be any updates as we make the move to the west coast and get settled, but once we move, forecast schedule will change as to that we will be posting Indiana forecasts the evening before and Western Washington forecasts will be updated in the morning. A complete schedule will be posted closer to that time frame. Well, that’s it for now, if you have friends or family in Western Washington, please have them like the Equinox Weather page on Facebook. We are also on Instagram and you can follow us on Twitter as well. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your evening!
